ABSTRACT |
Authors experienced a case considered as Stevens-Johnson syndrome by the clinical symptoms and the histopathological findings, which was accompanied with deep target-like ulcerations at the tongue, buccal and pharyngeal mucosa, conjunctivitis with ulceration of the left palpebral conjunctiva (marginally), and a few papulovesicular skin eruptions on the face both forearms, neck and back. The case, 47 year old Korean, was admitted to this hospital because of dysphagia, severe soreness on the right margin of the tongue and pharynx, fever, prostration and malaise. Histopathological examinations of the skin eruption and the ulcerated tongue were reported to be consistent with the findings of Stevens-Johnson syndrome. Constitutional symptoms were disappeared within a week of admission but the lesions of the mucosa were healed very slowly for about 4 weeks without any sequelae.
