Nasopharyngeal Angiofibroma - A Clinico-Pathologic Study on Eight Cases -

ABSTRACT

1) A clinico-pathologic study was made on eight cases of juvenile angiofibromas that were encountered at E.N.T. department, Seoul National University Hospital. Brief clinical and pathologic findings were tabulated. 2) All of the eight cases were males, with age distribution of 13 to 23 years. More frequent presenting symptoms were nasal obstruction and epistaxis, and duration of illness was 8 to 12 months since initial manifestation. 3) The tumors averaged 3 cm in diameter, showing pinkish white elastic hard appearance. Microscopically, the masses were usually covered with respiratory epithelium and the parenchyma consisted of dense or loose fibrous tissue with varying mixture of vascular components.
