ABSTRACT

Recently the author experienced a case of far advanced fibrosacoma in the maxillary area. A 24-year-old male soldier was admitted to our department with complaints of exophthalmos and swelling on the left cheek area for about 3 months. On admission, marked swelling and dull pain was noted on the left maxillary area together with exophthalmos and hypesthesia. X-ray study of the paranasal sinuses disclosed diffuse increased density of the left maxillary sinus and marked bony destruction of the latcral wall of the left maxillary sinus and lower wall of the orbital fossa. Complete extirpation of tumor mass was given up due to far advanced and deep infiltration of tumor into the surrounding tissues. The microscopic examination of the surgical specimen reported as fibrosarcoma with low grade malignancy. Patient is still alive with almost same condition but further close observation is necessary.
