A Statistical Report on Surgery of Otolaryngological Field

ABSTRACT

A statistical report on cases of 1655 ENT department patients at St. Paul hospital during the period of recent 9 years, 1965 to 1973, is made. The results were as follows : 1) The sex distribution was slightly higher in males than females with a ratio 1.3 to 1. 2) The highest distribution was observed in the second decade (42%) and followed by the third decade (25%) in the age group distribution. 3) The highest incidence was observed in January in monthly distribution and in winter in the seasonal distribution. 4) The operations were observed. Caldwell-Luc's op. 456 cases (27%) ; tonsillectomy 421 cases (25%) ; T & A 342 cases (20%); mastoidectomy 106 cases (6%) ; S.M.R. 102 cases (6%) ; tracheostomy 64 cases (3%) ; polypectomy 42 cases (2%) ; excision of tumors 28 cases (1.5%) ; I & D 26 cases (1.5%) ; Tympanoplasty 22 cases(1.3%) ; Reduction of nasal bone fracture 22 cases (1.3%) ; turbinectomy 14 cases (0.8%) ;Cleft palate repair 10 cases (0.6%).
