ABSTRACT

As a preliminary study for the selection of the tested materials in Korean speech sound. Speech confusion test was performed by natural voice and tape recorder against 40 students in attendance of middle school (normal 20, blind 20) whose hearing acuity were normal on selected 100 Korean monosyllable sounds. The results obtained from the above experiments were analized in order to know the articulation score and to observe the confusion tendency. The results are as follows : 1. Scores of the articulation test are shown by 79.3% for natural voice and 74.90% for tape recorder in the normal group and 77.65% for natural voice and 70.90% tape recorder in the blind group. 2. Total score of the articulation test that were articulation score for natural voice added to articulation score for tape recorder are 77.60% in normal group and 74.27% in abnormal group (blind). 3. There is shown significant difference statistically between the articulation scores of the normal group and the blind group, natural voice and tape recorder. 4. The confusion proportion was high in vowels and low in initial consonants and final consonants. 5. The confusion proportion by articulation situation of consonants was high in plosive, nasal and comparativelly low in fricative, affricate.
