ABSTRACT

Foreign bodies in air and food passages are not uncommon problems in the otolaryngological field. Various clinical experiences and statistical studies about them have been reported by many authors in the last 10 years. The symptoms evoked by foreign bodies especially in the air passage almost always need emergency care and we are frequently faced with many difficult problems in the management of such cases. Moreover, according to the development of the social environment, the forms and kinds of foreign bodies, their location in the air and food passages has become more varied in the past few years. So we feel actually that the treatment also must be considered differently and urgently in every cases. The authors experienced 5 interesting cases of foreign bodies in the air and food passages and a brief review of literature was made.
