ABSTRACT

Adenoid cyst carcinoma which is found most frequently in the salivary gland, is an extremely rare malignant tumor in the middle ear. It's characteristics are slow growing and well recurred after surgical removal. Recently we experienced a case of adenoid cystic carcinoma arising from middle ear of 30 years old male patient who complained of hearing impairment for 2 years duration and pulsating tinnitus for 2 weeks duration in the right ear. A grayish white mass measuring 1.5×1.5×1mm in the hypotympanic portion was removed out through exploratory tympanotomy under local anesthesia and adenoid cyst carcinoma was verified histopathologically.
