ABSTRACT

Primary tuberculosis the parotid gland is a rare disease and it was first reported by De-Paoli in 1893. The gross manifestations assume two forms : an acute inflammatory infection with diffuse gland involvement, and a chronic enlarged lesion that may by asymptomatic for many years. The ultimate diagnosis is made only by the microscopic examination, but the chest P-A, sputum smear and culture may be helpful and the choice of treatment has been surgery but recently, the treatment of early lesions is medical management and late lesions is excision with Anti-Tbc. medication. Recently the anthors have experienced two cases of primary tuberculosis the parotid gland and report on the result of surgical excision. A review of the literature was also carried out.
