ABSTRACT

The new Korean PB word lists(Chungnam National University PB-50 List A and B) were constructed with 100 monosyllabic words divided into 2 lists of 50 words each, as following criteria ; 1) Nonsense monosyllabic words 2) Familiar words 3) The phonetic composition of the lists corresponding to that of Korean daily spoken language, 4) Equal range and average difficulty. The construction of three other lists reported previously were compared with CNU PB-50 lists and articulation tests were performed with CNU PB-50 lists and three other lists in 20 young adults with normal hearing, 10 with conductive hearing loss and 10 with sensorineural hearing loss. The average articulation curves were less steeper sith CNU PB-50 lists than with others and were distributed more closely to regression curves with CNU PB-50 lists than with others in normal and conductive hearing loss. In difference of the articulation scores with each lists, there were significant differences between all lists, except between CNU PB-50 List A and B. In conclusion, CNU PB-50 Lists were satisfied with the criteria in construction of Korean monosyllabic word test for discrimination and had a valuable result in articulation tests, compared with other lists reported previously.
