Oval window fistula as a cause of recurrent meningitis is a life-threatening disease even in the present antibiotic treatment, thus, any abnormality which predispose a patient to a recurrence of meningitis, must be identified and corrected. This report describe the history of 3-year old girl with recurrent meningitis due to CSF leakage. By surgically exploring the middle ear, the presence of oval window fistula due to defect of stapes footplate was confirmed and by tightly sealing off the oval window, CSF leakage was successfully controlled.
