ABSTRACT

Fibrous histiocytoma is a soft tissue tumor of histiocytic orgin, principally occurring as a mass on extremities or in the abdominal cavity and rarely in the head and neck. Most of them are benign, but there is no reliable histologic criteria of malignancy. The diagnosis of malignancy has been based on the clinical view such as the growth rate of tumor, degree of infiltration and metastasis rate etc. The authors recently experienced a case of fibrous histiocytoma of the lateral band of pharynx, and report with literature.
