The authors observed and studied the clinical findings and healing process by their various treatments of 98 cases of traumatic drum perforations. All of the cases were obtained from C.A.F.G.H. between the year of 1986 to 1987. Results : 1) The main cause of drum perforation was indirect trauma(98.9%). 2) Left side was more frequently involved, especially in the anterior and inferior quadrant and intermediate portion. 3) Poor hearing was the most frequently complained, and otalgia, tinnitus was in their next order. 4) Medium sized, irregular-round and round shaped were most frequently seen. 5) In hearing loss, the posterior quadrant was more severe than anterior quadrant and the degree of loss was well correspond with the size of perforation. 6) Three ways of therapeutic method were compared to watch the healing process of the perforation. (1) Simple observation therapy : The perforation healing took about 2.5 weeks in small sized perforation, 3.4 weeks in medium sized perforation, 5.7 weeks in large sized perforation. (2) Stimulation therapy : The perforation healing took about 1.8 weeks in small sized perforation, 3.2 weeks in medium sized perforation, 4.6 weeks in large sized perforation. (3) Combination therapy(Stimulation therapy+Patch graft) : The perforation healing took about 3.5 weeks in medium sized perforation, 4.5 weeks in large sized perforation.
