ABSTRACT

To clarify hemostatic efficacy of topical application of thrombin in tonsillectomy, we studied comparative analysis between the wounds treated with topical thrombin and without topical thrombin in tonsillectomy. Among 60 cases, we divided 3 groups randomly, and topical thrombin 1,000unit/ml, 500unit/ml, and 100unit/ml solutions were applicated respectively. In the postoperative findings, there were good hemostatic effects in thrombin applicated sites compared with control sites, especially the group applicated with 1,000unit/ml thrombin.
