We have clinically analysed the 116 cases of the nasal bone fractures who had visited emergency room of Soonchunhyang University Hospital from August, 1983 to July, 1987. The results are as follows : 1) The number of patients who had visited Otorhinolaryngologic department via emergency room were 1695. Among them nasal bone trauma cases were 219(13.2%) and nasal bone fracture cases were 116(7.0%). 2) Of the 116 cases, 81 cases(70%) were male and 35 cases(30%) were female, the ratio between male and female was 7 : 3. 3) In the age incidence, 3rd decade was most commonly involved in 53 cases(45.7%) followed by 4th decade in 29 cases(25%), and 2nd decade in 16 cases(13.8%). 4) The most highest incidence was 20-39 years of age in male, 70.7% of cases. 5) Seasonal incidence showed most commonly occurred in summer, autumn in orders. 6) Monthly incidence showed commonly occur in June, October in orders. 7) Causes of trauma were as follows ; (1) Accidental : 32 cases(27.6%) : a) Instrumental, 13 cases(11.2), b) Sports, 8 cases(6.9%), c) Slip or fall down, 11 cases(9.5%), (2) Assault(Human trouble) : 65 cases(56%), (3) Traffic accident : 19 cases(16.4%). 8) The types of nasal bone fractures were classified by physical examination and X-ray findings as follows ; (1) Linear fracture, 14 cases(12.1%), (2) Depressed fracture, 59 cases(50.9%), (3) Displaced fracture, 37 cases(31.9%), (4) Compound fracture, 5 cases(4.3%), (5) Open fracture, 1 cases(0.9%) 9) Nasal bone fractures were treated by closed reduction in 35 cases and treated conservatively in 36 cases.
