Malignant melanoma is fortunately rare in nose and paranasal sinus compared to those of other parts of the body, approximately 20% of all melanoma occur in the head and neck region. This forms of malignancy are characterized by their rapid spread and radioresistant with poor prognosis, and then malignant melanoma occurring in certain area such as the sole of the feet, the palms of the hands, the genitalia and mucous membrane of the nose and paranasal sinus are known to have worse prognosis. However, we are able to provide a longer and more comfortable life expectancy by proper treatment. The authors have recently experienced a case of primary malignant melanoma originated in the nasal cavity. The patient who was treated by wide excision of tumor through lateral rhinotomy showed relatively improving result until present time.
