ABSTRACT |
Very few cancers of floor of the mouth will be found on routine examination, but usually the patients tend to delay the diagnosis and treatment. The treatment of cancer of floor of the mouth is divided among radilologists and surgeons depending on anatomical location of primary cancer, the size and extent of involved
adjacent tissue, and whether or not metastases have occurred. Recently the combined use of radiation, chemotherapy, surgery rise the best means of treatment of cancer of floor of the mouth. Composite resection is the standand surgical method for treating cancer of floor of the mouth. The technique for reconstruction of composite resection defect includes primary closure, lacal flap, myocutaneous flap. More recently petoralis major myocutaneous flap was suggested. Authors have good results using composite operation or pull through operation with reconstruction for treatment of cancer of floor of the mouth.
