Lectin Histochemical Study in Human Nasal Mucosa

ABSTRACT

Paraffin-embedded human nasal mucosa, obtained in healthy turbinates, were examined using 6 biotyinlated lectins(UEA-I, WGA, RCI-I, DBA, PNA, SBA). These labelled lectins were used as specific molecular probes to localize differences in carbohydrate-containing components in different organs of nasal mucosa. The result were as follows ; 1) Secretory cells were labelled with UEA-I, WGA, RCA-I. 2) Basal cells were labelled with WGA, RCA-I. 3) Connective tissues were labelled with WGA. 4) Endotheliums were labelled with UEA-I, WGA, RCA-I.
