ABSTRACT

Screening test batteries for hearing loss were performed on 312 pupils in the first grade to develop an effective screening method. The tests consisted of otologic physical examination, puretone sweep audiometry and tympanometry. Otologic history questionare was also included for evaluation of the hearing loss. In this study, 11.5 percents of subjects were found to be at risk of hearing loss. The efficacy of tests for identification of risk group was evaluated by sensitivity, specificity and test success rate. The combination of tympanogram and puretone sweep audiogram at 25 dB on 500 Hz and 4,000 Hz revealed an effective preschool screening hearing test battery.
