ABSTRACT

Malignant melanoma of mucous membrane comprises 0.4 to 1.4% of all malignant melanoma. Malignant melanoma of the oral cavity is extremely rare and asymptomatic. The treatment of choice is radical surgery and the prognosis is serious because of high local recurrence rate and high incidence of metastasis. The authors have experienced one case of malignant melanoma originating from the mucosa of the hard palate, which was removed surgically.
