A Mixed Tumor of Salivary Gland on Palate

ABSTRACT

Since the first description of mixed tumor of salivary gland on the palate in 1752, there has been many subsequent cases reported in the world literatures. This tumor which arises in the salivary gland generally, consists of a mixture of ectodermal and mesodermal components. The authors have experienced recently a case of mixed tumor on the palate in a 59 year-old female who visited this hospital with chief complaints of the foreign body sensation and none tender large mass in the throat for the past 3 years. Physical examination revealed a round hard mass on junction of the soft and hard palate. Under the general anesthesia, surgical removal was performed and pathological diagnosis revealed mixed tumor of salivary gland on the palate. This is the report of the case with review of literatures.
