ABSTRACT

About the surgical treatment of parotid tumor, surgeon must select the most effective type of resection and decide whether to remove or preserve the facial nerve. But in the benign or low grade maligment tumor, preservation of the facial nerve is necessary. Discovery of the facial nerve is always prerequisite to extirpation of lesion, which protect the nerve from any unnecessary surgical injury. Surgeon must consider the abnormal anatomic relationship by pressure effect of the tumor and scar tissue created by the previous operation. Author reports eight cases of the parotid tumor which were treated in our clinic for the past four years with review of literatures.
