ABSTRACT

Adenoid cystic carcinoma of external auditory canal which was originated from ceruminous gland was first reported by Haugh (1894) and extremely rare. It was characterized by persistent otalgia, long history of disease for about 10 to 30 years, distant metastasis to brain, lung or bone, frequent recurrence after surgical intervention and poor prognosis. Recently, we experienced a case of adenoid cystic carcinoma arising from external auditory canal of 54 years- old female patient who complained of intermittent otalgia, bloody otorrhea, and hearing impairment for 3 years of duration in the right ear.
