ABSTRACT

Authors tried the Foley catheter technique for removal of blunt esophageal foreign bodies (coins) in ten cases. Among ten cases, the procedure was successful in eight cases and failed in two cases. In the failed cases the coins were pushed on into the stomach during procedures and passed through the gastrointestinal tract without complication. In properly selected cases, the technique is relatively simple, safe and satisfactory if performed under fluoroscopic guidance.
