ABSTRACT

Xeroradiographic procedure is based on a physio-electrical process, in which images are produced not on X-ray film but rather on electrostatically charged selenium plates. After an initial interest concentrated especially on the representation of the female breast, the value of the xeroradiographic investigation of the skeletal system, the soft parts, and the inner organs has increasingly proved recently. The application of xeroradiography provides two major characteristics of wide recording lattitude and unique property of edge enhancement, and has constituted a valuable extension to diagnosis in otolaryngologic radiology. However, the method can not replace the conventional X-ray film completely. The authors present a review of the superb imaging of xeroradiography in otolaryngology, comparing to the conventional radiologic technique.
