Clinical Study on the Laryngeal Cancer

ABSTRACT

The authors experienced 46 cases of laryngeal cancer in our clinic for recent 5 years and analysis of the treatment modalities and results as followings ; 1) The advanced cancers over stage III were more common in 31 cases(68.4%). Glottic cancer was common as 56.5%, average age was 60.2 years. Nodal metastases were 2 times more common in supraglottic than glottic cancer. 2) Initial treatment modalities were radiation in 15 and surgery in 31 cases. Among radiation and surgery, no different results were observed under stage II group, and results of surgery were 2 times better than radiation over stage III. 3) The most common recurrences were primary site of 6 cases(40%) of radiation group and cervical metastasis of 8 cases(25.8%) of surgery group.
