ABSTRACT

Adenoid cystic carcinoma(cylindroma) is a rare malignant tumor arising in glandular structure, especially in minor salivary tissue but occasionally arising in the lacrimal glands or from the mucous membranes of the mouth, respiratory tract and rarely in other glandular tissue of the head and neck. The authors experienced a case of Adenoid cystic carcinoma arising from the minor salivary gland in a 48 year old male who had mass on the base of the tongue. The tumor mass was removed surgically by Trotter approach and total laryngectomy, confirmed as adenoid cystic carcinoma by the histologic examination. We report this case with literatural reviews.
