Control of the Uncontrollable Epistaxis with Selective Arterial Embolization

ABSTRACT

Epistaxis is one of common problems for otolaryngologist. Especially posterior epistaxis is very difficult to manage. Many methods have been used to control posterior epistaxis. Some of these are cryotherapy, posterior nasal packing, arterial ligation. But their eggectiveness are controversial. We experienced 3 cases of uncontrollable epistaxis in which angiographic localization of the site of bleeding as well as successful arterial embolization were performed.
