We retrospectively reviewed the 76 patients' records of histologically confirmed pleomorphic adenoma at the Department of Otolaryngology, College of Medicine, Kyung-Hee University from January 1979 to December 1991. The results obtained were as follows : 1) The sex distribution was 21 cases(27.6%) in male and 55(72.4%) in female. 2) The mean age was 37.3 years old(from 9 years old to 70 years old). 3) The chief complaint was slowly growing painless mass in most cases(97.4%). 4) The sites of origin were parotid gland in 50 cases(65.8%), submandibular gland, lateral neck, palate, sublingual gland, oral cavity, preauricular soft tissue and larynx in order. 5) The treatments were mass enucleation in 23 cases of parotid gland lesion, superficial parotidectomy in 19 cases, total parotidectomy in 7 cases, deep lobectomy of parotid gland in 1 case and mass enucleation in other 26 cases. 6) Swer cases were recurred, requiring reoperatia and 3 cases of these had postoperative facial palsies and 2 cases had malignant changes.
