ABSTRACT |
According to the literature review, Morris 1) and Jackson 2) described the presence of mucous lumps just behind the limen nasi, although author can not tell how many other Otolalyngologists and Anatomists aware of this. The statistical survey on this subject was carried out for 1,793 (1,705 male and 1,034 female). The age rainged from 6 to 30. Some histological specimens were also taken and microscopically examined. The following results were found. It is observed that a number of examinees show the elevation in transition of mucous membrane of the anterior nasal floor, statistically the frequency of this elevation is approximately 50 percent in both sexes. It is proposed to call this elevation ""The mucous elevation of the antherior nasal floor"". The mucous elevation of the antherior nasal floor is elevated in spur-like or ridge-like form, just behind limen nasi. No great changes are sown by age. No significant differences are shown by sex and location. Histologically, mixed glands and mucous terminal portion are more frequently observed in this elevated portion than in the other, and it is observed the lumen is wider and blood vessels are relatively less. |
