ABSTRACT |
Case 1 : A 68 year-old woman visited to Chonnam University Hospital on Nov. 1, 1966 with chief complaints of exophthalmos, visual impairment, severe pain and tenderness of right eye and frontal region for 16 months duration. X-ray film revealed that right frontal sinus showed the extreme degree of dilatation involving right supraorbital bony wall invading into the orbital space. A Lynch operation was performed and mucocele was completely removed on 2nd admission day. The vinyl tube was inserted into the nasofrontal duct which was removed on 14th postoperative day. Postoperative course was uneventful.
Case 2 : A 32 year-old man was admitted to the hospital on Nov. 1, 1965 because of nasal obstruction, hyperrhinorrhea and pain around left eye and frontal region for 3 years. On physical examination left nasal cavity was completely filled with dark reddish gray mass compressing the nasal septum to the right side, on which the diagnostic puncture was performed and thick tenacious grayish borwn colored fluid was proved. X-ray findings showed diffusely clouding of the left maxillary and ethmoid sinuses. On 3rd admission day Caldwell-Luc operation with intranasal and transantral ethmoidectomy were performed and the mucocele was completely removed. The patient was discharged with good condition on 5th postoperative day.
