A Rare Case of Actinomycosis of the Palatine Tonsil |

ABSTRACT |
The authors have recently experienced a rare case of actinomycosis of the left palatine tonsil. A 39-year-old female visited our clinic with dysphagia and soreness of throat for several months. We removed completely the tonsil infected by actinomycosis also the other tonsil under local anesthesia by ordinary method. Penicillin and Sulfonamide per os was given for one week. No bleeding and pus was detected following operation. Histopathologically the final diagnosis was confirmed as actinomycosis bovis strain with sulphur stained granules. This patients has had no complaint since operation which is about 7 months.
