ABSTRACT

Hemangioma is rather common tumor and involvement of the skin in the most frequent development, but involvement of the maxillary sinus is rare in incidence. A 23-year-old male was admitted to our department with chief complaints of mild continuous nasal bleeding and nasal obstruction for about 2 years. On admission big tumor was seen in the right nasal cavity and epipharynx together with slight swelling of the right maxillary area. X-ray study of the paranasal sinuses disclosed diffuse cloudy density of the right maxillary sinus area. Complete extirpation of mass was carried out under general anesthesia by Caldwell-Luc approach. The microscopic examination of the surgical specimen revealed a capillary type of hemangioma. Postoperative course was smooth, and no evidence of recurrence noted so far.
