ABSTRACT |
Nasopharyngeal angiofibroma is an uncommon tumor found in the nasopharynx of the adolescent male. It is a highly vascular, locally invasive, nonencapsulated lesion which begins in the suberscent period and causes varying symptoms during the adolescent years. Recently we experienced a case of huge nasopharyngeal
angiofibroma. On April 19, 1968, a 25 years old boy was visited with chief complaints of nasal obstruction and speech and feeding disturbances due to protruding mass in the mouth and nose, which was developed about 10 years age. Otolaryngological examination showed walnut-sized tumor mass protruding through the right nasal cavity and lobulated pinkish mass, which filled the entire oral cavity. The tumor mass was removed successfully, under general anesthesia. Pathological finding was consistent of angiofibroma and the postoperative course was uneventful.
