ABSTRACT

The author experienced recently a case of candidiasis of the pharynx. A 70-year-old female patient was admitted with the chief complaints of sore throat and swallowing pain which had gradually developed for last one year. Clinical examination revealed a dirty grayish-white pseudomembrane on the posterior pharyngeal wall. The bacteriological study showed non-pathogenic gram positive cocco-bacillus. The final diagnosis was confirmed by culture for fungus as candidiasis of the pharynx. The patient received treatment under diagnosis of candidiasis and discharged with marked improvement.
