ABSTRACT |
It is well known that speech signals are the most reliable materials for hearing test and there are many difficult problems in the selection of these materials. Because of these difficulties, there is no confirmed test materials of Korean speech sounds up to date. The confusion test with speech sounds in needed for reasonable word lists. As a preliminary study of the articulation scores and confusion patterns of Korean speech sound, 100 monosyllables were selected from a 498 monosyllables set which was phonetically representative of modern Korean conversational sound. In order to take an 100 monosyllables set which was phonetically corresponding with 498 monosyllables, the same syllable structure and articulation score as those of 498 monosyllables was considered. But, under the same syllable structure and articulation score, monosyllable sounds were seleted in order of its frequency. The 100 monosyllable sounds selected by above method were relatively corresponded to 498 monosyllables in the distribution rate of each phonemes and considered to be representative of 498 monosyllables sounds.
