ABSTRACT |
A 43 year old male was admitted into this Hospital to internal medicine in semicomatous state with meningeal sign. There were past histories of recurrent ceruminal impaction in right ear. Ear drums showed no perforation or discharge. X-ray films showed diffuse cloudiness, suggesting complete destruction of bony walls. Modified radical mastoidectomy was done, and were found scanty mucoid discharge and destructive fistula into middle cranial fossa, but no cholesteatoma in the mastoid. Culture of the mucus revealed the pathogen to be pneumococcus type III. 10 days after the surgery was done, the patient discharged in good condition.
