ABSTRACT |
It has been known that there has been no excellent atrophic rhinitis reported, though many methods were attempted with the trial of several different procedures of surgery. Three cases of atrophic rhinitis are treated and brief clinical history are as follows.
Case 1 : This 25 year old female patient was diagnosed as the atrophic rhinitis of the left side with chief complaints of nasal obstruction, crust formation, atrophy of nasal mucous membrane, nasal discharge and dryness of nasopharyngeal cavity. She had transplantation of right maxillary sinus mucous membrane to the right atrophoid turbinate through the antro nasal opening 5 years ago.
Case 2 : This 35 year old female patient was diagnosed as the atrophic rhinitis of the left side with chief complaints of nasal obstruction, crust formation and dryness of nasopharyngeal cavity.
Case 3 : This 41 year old male patient was diagnosed as atrophic rhinitis of the left side and septal perforation with chief complaints of crust formation, nasal obstruction and atrophy of nasal mucous membrane.
All three cases were admitted and ""Silastic insertion"" between nasal septal cartilage and perichondrium were performed under local anesthesia. This method is relatively simple and advantages of the procedure are presented. The clinical results of the method are listed.
