ABSTRACT

Abuse of antibiotics in medical field causes difficult problems of antibiotic resistance to various pathogenic organisms, and new study about antibiotic susceptibility is needed urgently today. Authors studied on the susceptibility and resistance of antibiotics to various pathogenic organisms by the culture and the sensitivity test which was obtained from otorrhea of 142 cases and following results were obtained ; 1) Most common pathogenic organism was staphylococcus aureus (42.6%) of total 142 cases, next to this, pseudomonas aeruginosa (26.7%), proteus (8.5%), aerobacter (7.5%), E. coli (2.8%), streptococcus (1.7%) etc. in descending order. 2) The high susceptible antibiotics to staphylococcus aureus were kanamycin, neomycin, novobiocin and lincocin with the each susceptibility ratio of more than 90% and next susceptible ones were bactrim, chloramphenicol and streptomycin, with 80% susceptibility ratio, but penicillin, ampicillin and tetracycline have strong resistance to staphylococcus aureus. 3) The susceptible antibiotics to pseudomonas aeruginosa were gentamycin, carbenicillin and colimycin with the susceptibility ratio of 70~80% each, neomycin, bactrim, streptomycin, orbenin, tetracycline and teramycin etc. showed strong resistance to pseudomonas organisms. 4) The susceptible antibiotics to aerobacter were neomycin, orbenin and kanamycin with the susceptibility ratio of about 80%. 5) The susceptible antibiotics to proteus group were orbenin, neomycin, kanamycin and gentamycin with the susceptibility ratio of about 90% and next susceptible ones were chloramphenicol, bactrim and ampicillin with the susceptibility ratio of 70~80%.
