ABSTRACT |
The polypoid tumor of the palatine tonsil is relatively rare. Recently, authors experienced a case of pedunculated polypoid tumor arising from a crypt of the left palatine tonsil in a twenty-year-old man. The patient complained sense of foreign body in the throat, which had been gradually getting worse, for about six years. Removal of the tumor with tonsillectomy was performed. The operation was uneventful and the postoperative course was smooth. Since then, the symptom had disappeared and no recurrence occurred. The histopathologic examination of the tumor showed a lymphangioma. Articles regarding similar cases were reviewed, and the etiology and histopathology were briefly discussed. |
