ABSTRACT |
Neurofibroma, a tumor originating from Schwann cells of the sheath of peripheral nerves and neuromedullary junction, may occur in almost all regions of the body. Acoustic neurinoma is the most frequently seen in the field of otolaryngology, occurring rarely in nasal root. Neurofibroma occurs as a solitary tumor, and also in the form of multiple ones as a part of von Recklinghausen's disease. We have recently experienced a case of neurofibroma of the nasal root. The patient was a 20 year old male who had noticed a gradual swelling of the nasal root for 10 years. The tumor was removed under general endotracheal anesthesia, and was verified histopathologically as a neurofibroma of the nasal root. |
