Neurilemmoma (Syn. Schwannoma, Neurinoma, Perineural fibroblastoma) is a benign tumor which originates from the Schwann cells of nerve sheath in cranial, sympathetic and peripheral nerves. There is a tendency in many reports in the literature to group the neurilemmoma and the neurofibroma together because the former apparently is derived from the schwann cells and the latter from the connective tissue of the sheath and probably the schwann cells themselves. Clinically neurilemmoma is always encapsulated while neurofibroma is characterized by diffuse proliferation. Compared to other soft tissue sites in the body, oropharynx is a rare site of involvement in neurilemmoma. Recently we have experienced two cases of neurilemmoma arising in the oropharynx in 31 and 33 years old males. Tumors were successfully excised under general anesthesia, the specimens were proved as neurilemmoma. The postoperative course were uneventful.
