Two Cases of Pharyngeal Syphilis

ABSTRACT

Authors experienced two cases of secondary pharyngeal syphilis.

Case 1 : A 48-year-old female visited with complaint of hoarseness during the 2 months before come to the hospital. On examination, the palatine and lingual tonsils, the uvula, and the tongue tip showed rice cone sized verrucoid lesion and the epiglottis showed superficial ulceration.

Case 2 : A 27-year-old male called with complaints of sore throat and hoarseness for 2 months. At first examination, the palatine and lingual tonsils showed flat granulation tissue and looked pale and the perianal region revealed ulcerative tumor mass. The VDRL test showed strong positive reaction on case 1 and 2. On histopathological study, the two cases were granulomatous inflammation and diagnosed secondary syphilis. The two cases were treated with penicillin only and had good result.
