ABSTRACT

We have experienced a rare case of fungal infection on the tongue considering to be developed as a result of superinfection. The patient was 30 year old female who had exposed to upper respiratory infection about 2 weeks before. On the entire dorsal surface of her tongue, we could observe whitish plaque like milky cream as a shown Figure 1, which also combined with mild swelling, multiple ulceration, pain and swallowing difficulty. For the accurate diagnosis, various laboratory examination were made. Final pathologic organism was identified as Kluyveromyces which is one the rare species evoked mycosis. So we made adequate treatment and a brief review of the literature.
