ABSTRACT |
Recently many studies and developments of allergology especially in nasal allergy have been carried out, and clinically as a matter of course, the correct diagnosis is most important. Recognizing of diagnostic procedure for nasal allergy, detail history taking is just as important as other examination and tests. This paper presents a clinical study of 176 cases of nasal allergy, taken from the questionaire, they were diagnosed as nasal allergy at allergy clinic of Yonsei University Hospital during the three-year period 1975-1978. A clinical study of the nasal allergy has been made in Korean cases. Diagnostic positive rate of skin test, incidence and seasonal distribution of allergen, character of symptom, and efficacy of hyposensitization will be considered, and following results were obtained. I hope these results will be helpful for further study in this field. 1) Positive rate of skin test is 56.3 percent, and the most frequent number of allergens are 5 and more in 30.1 percent. 2) In cases of nasal allergy, it is found that the commonest allergen is house dust. Next in order of frequency were pollute air and pollen among 537 as 24 kinds of cauisitive allergens. 3) Seasonal highest incidence of allergic rhinitis is in winter, and the lowest is summer in generally. 4) Paroxysmal attack is commonest character of symptom, and cold and sneezing are also commonest complaints. 5) There are about 20 percent cases of allergic rhinitis also have a history of the other allergic diseases. Family history is also closely correlaled. 6) The efficacy of hyposensitization by SDV of Bencard is 50.0 percent, and is higher (60.9 percent) in younger group under 20 years of age.
