A Case of Recurrent Mixed Tumor of the Parotid Gland

ABSTRACT

The benign mixed tumor usually orginated at major salivary gland. If removal is incomplete, it may recur locally. The benign mixed tumor are more common in femals than in males, with the peak incidence in the third and fourth decades of life. Recently, the authors have experienced a case of recurrent mixed tumor, located at the superficial lobe of parotid gland in a 23 year old man. He had twice operation history : 1973. and 1978. Recently, total superficial parotidectomy of left parotid gland was performed and the tumor mass was completely removed under general anesthesia. The dimension of tumor mass was 2×4×3cm. The histopathological studies of the specimen was confirmed as mixed tumor.
