ABSTRACT |
The authors reviewed fifty-four cases of salivary gland tumors. All the tumor-like lesions were excluded. The conclusions are as follows ; 1) Of the salivary gland tumors pleomorphic adenoma was most frequent and it was followed by adenoid cystic carcinoma and adenocarcinoma. 2) Growing mass was the most common chief complaint of the patients with salivary gland tumors. 3) The accuracy rate of aspiration cytology was 65% and the error ratio was 35%. Error was more common in the parotid tumor. 4) The accuracy rate of frozen section biopsy was 80% and error ratio was 20%. Error was more common in malignancies. 5) Two cases of Postoperative metastasis to the lung was confirmed in the parotid malignant tumors. One was adenoid cystic carcinoma and the other was adenocarcinoma.
