ABSTRACT |
Leiomyoma is a very rare benign tumor originating in the smooth muscle. It occurs rarely in the oral cavity but occurs frequently in the uterus and G-I tract. Reviewing the reported cases in the past shows that the most common site for leiomyoma in the oral cavity is tongue. The clinical features of the leiomyoma are not well-known. So we thought it helpful to report the case of leiomyoma which we experienced recently. The patient was 28-year-old male who had noticed a slowly growing mass localized on the lateral margin of the tongue for the past 2 months prior to the visit on the our department. The mass was excised and proved to the leiomyoma on the histological examiation.
