ABSTRACT |
Adenosquamous cell carcinoma is an epithelial malignant neoplasm in which there is the simultaneous presence of the malignant glandular and squamous elements. Its neoplasm arises from the ducts of the submucosal glands, Grossly, there are no particular features distinguishing the lesion from other neoplasms. Histologically, the tumor is composed of a combination of adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. No predilection for site has been noted. Especially, adenosquamous cell carcinoma of the larynx is rare, highly malignant, and has poor prognosis. Treatment of adenosquamous cell carcinoma demands a more aggressive and radical approach than ordinary squamous cell carcinoma. Radiation therapy has little of offer in the treatment of this tumor. We report one case of adenosquamous cell carcinoma of the larynx with review of current literature.
