ABSTRACT |
Myxoma is a true neoplasm resembling primitive embryonal mesenchyme, consisting of widely spread stellate cell and spindle shaped cell in loose mucoid stroma. Although it is not encapsulated and may progressively invade the surrounding tissues, it has a totally benign biologic behavior and does not give rise to matastasis. Myxoma has no predilection for sex and equally affect persons of all age. Myxoma occurs rarely in head and neck. In head and neck, most myxoma occurs in bone, subcutaneous tissues, oral and paraoral soft tissues, and occurs in larynx as the author's review of literature discovered one case of laryngeal myxoma in the past two decades.
