ABSTRACT

The malignant epithelioid schwannoma is an unusual form of malignant schwannoma that closely resembles a melanoma. Results of radiation and chemotherapy have been disappointing and a high local recurrence is characteristic after radical surgery. A-27-years-old male patient was visited Guro hospital with the complaints of slowly growing neck mass and swallowing difficulty for 6 months. On Physical examination, goose egg sized, soft, nontender mass was noticed in the right side of neck and revealed paresis of right hyposlossal nerve. On CT scan, contrast enhanced well encapsulated mass was occupied in the right parapharyngeal space. Under impression of neurogenic tumor, 7×4×3cm sized well encapsulated mass was excised and final histopathologic examination revealed malignant epithelioid schwannoma.
